Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 1, 2026

1. Introduction

Row Zero, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website getrowzero.org and the Row Zero service (together, the "Service"). Row Zero is a spreadsheet that connects directly to cloud data warehouses - Snowflake, BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Databricks, and DuckDB - using query pushdown so analysts can work with billions of rows without moving data out of their warehouse. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Row Zero, Inc. is based at 1000 Second Avenue, Suite 1200, Seattle, WA 98104, United States. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account, contact us, or use the Service, we collect information you submit, including:

  • Account registration details (name, work email address, and password);
  • Warehouse connection metadata you configure in the Service - specifically, connection parameters such as host name, port, database name, schema name, and authentication method. We store these parameters to maintain your connections; we do not copy warehouse data to our infrastructure;
  • Contact details you submit through forms (name, email, company, message content);
  • Support and feedback communications you send us.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit getrowzero.org or use the Service, we automatically collect limited technical information:

  • IP address and approximate location (city or region level);
  • Browser type, operating system, and device class;
  • Pages visited, time spent, and referring URLs;
  • Session identifiers and cookie values (see Section 5).

2.3 Warehouse Data - What We Do Not Collect

Row Zero is architecturally designed so that your warehouse data never passes through our servers. When you open a table or run a formula, Row Zero sends a SQL query directly from your browser to your warehouse endpoint using your credentials. We receive only the result set your browser requests to display. We do not copy, store, index, or retain warehouse table data on Row Zero infrastructure. Connection credentials are encrypted at rest and in transit and are never used for any purpose other than executing your queries.

2.4 No Knowing Collection of Children's Data

getrowzero.org is a professional data tool not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provision and operate your Row Zero account, including authenticating you and maintaining your warehouse connections;
  • Respond to support requests, questions, and feedback you send us;
  • Improve and develop the Service - for example, understanding which warehouse connectors are used most;
  • Send transactional communications (account activity, security notices) and, where you have opted in, product updates;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized use;
  • Comply with legal obligations that apply to us.

We do not sell personal information for monetary value. Where applicable state law treats certain advertising arrangements as a "sale" or "share," see your state's section below.

4. Sharing of Information

We share personal information only with:

  • Service providers acting strictly on our behalf (hosting infrastructure, transactional email delivery, usage analytics) under written confidentiality obligations that prohibit them from using data for their own purposes;
  • Law enforcement or regulatory authorities when required by applicable law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Company, its users, or others;
  • A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all assets, subject to this Policy continuing to govern your information.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, maintain your session, and measure aggregate usage patterns. For a full description of cookie categories used and your management options, see our Cookie Policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to handle billing disputes or support matters. Warehouse connection parameters are deleted upon account closure. Inactive marketing-list contacts are removed after 24 months. Server access logs are retained for 90 days and then aggregated. We retain information longer only when required by law or to resolve an active dispute.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including TLS encryption in transit for all Service traffic, encrypted storage for connection credentials, restricted-access production systems, and least-privilege access controls for our team. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute protection against all threats.

8. Your General Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, and the ability to limit certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with a description of your request and sufficient detail to verify your identity. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

9. Washington State Residents

Washington State does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy statute. As a matter of policy, the Company extends the following baseline rights to all U.S. residents regardless of state of residence.

9.1 Baseline Rights

  • Right to Know: request the categories of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: request deletion of personal information you have provided.
  • Right to Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.

9.2 How to Exercise

Email [email protected] with a description of your request and enough detail for us to verify your identity. We respond within 45 days.

9.3 Sector-Specific Rights

If you are protected by federal sector laws (such as HIPAA, GLBA, or FERPA), those laws may give you additional rights with respect to data covered by them.

9.4 California Visitors

If you are a California resident, you may also exercise the rights granted under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") and California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing. The Company does not sell personal information and does not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To submit a CCPA or CPRA request, email [email protected] with the subject line "California Privacy Request."

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, where appropriate, a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
