We built the spreadsheet we kept wishing existed
Row Zero is a small team in Seattle. We started in 2023 after watching analysts spend half their time managing CSV exports instead of doing analysis. The fix was obvious: give the spreadsheet a direct warehouse connection and push every operation back to the data.
Our story
Analysts should not need a workaround to see their own data
The standard workflow for a data analyst working with a warehouse in 2022 looked roughly like this: write a query, wait for it to finish, export a CSV, open that CSV in Excel or Google Sheets, do the actual analysis, realize the data has a problem, go back to the query, and repeat. The spreadsheet step was necessary because that is where analysts have always done analysis. The export step was the tax.
We started Row Zero because we thought the tax was avoidable. The spreadsheet interface that analysts already knew could be rebuilt to talk directly to the warehouse instead of consuming a flat file. Every operation the analyst performs in the grid, such as sorting a column, filtering a row, or writing a formula, gets translated to SQL and sent to the warehouse. The result rows come back. The analyst never sees the billion rows moving; they just see the answer.
That is still the entire product. No BI layer on top, no dashboarding features, no AI copilot that guesses what you wanted. A spreadsheet that connects to a warehouse and does not choke on the data that is actually in it.

The full dataset, always
Sampling is a limitation of old tooling, not a valid analytical method. We built the product so you can work with every row in your table, not a percent of it.
Familiar interface, new power
Analysts have spent years learning spreadsheet motions. We wanted that skill to transfer. Row Zero looks like a spreadsheet because it is one, just without the row limit.
Small team, focused product
We are independently funded and intend to stay lean. That means we can move fast on the core product without a roadmap crowded with enterprise features that dilute what the tool does well.

Breck led data product at two analytics-focused companies before starting Row Zero. He spent years watching analysts build workarounds for the CSV export problem before deciding to build the fix directly.

Co-founder and CTO
Jess built distributed query engines before Row Zero. She designed the query pushdown layer that lets Row Zero compile spreadsheet operations to warehouse SQL without the round-trip cost that would make it feel slow.

Head of Data Infrastructure
Tomas spent several years at a cloud data platform building connector infrastructure at scale before joining Row Zero. He owns the five warehouse connectors and the authentication layer that keeps your credentials out of our systems.
